Early and late Waste

Connectitude OEE handles waste in two categories depending on where in production units are discarded – early waste and late waste. The distinction is important as they affect the product counter differently, and therefore also the OEE calculation.

Late waste

Late waste refers to units that are discarded after they have passed the product counter.

Since these units have already been counted as produced, late waste is subtracted from the value of the product counter to get the correct number of approved units.

Early waste

Early waste refers to units that are discarded before they have passed the product counter.

Since these units were never registered by the product counter, early waste is added to the value of the product counter to get the total number of produced units.
